This video goes along well with chapter 20 in my book "Idle Speed Controls", but also specifically covers Ford scan data and minimum idle speed adjustment. The testing methods shown
Open the hood of your vehicle and locate the idle control screw on the throttle body. Turn the idle control screw clockwise to make the engine idle faster or counterclockwise to make it idle slower. If you turn the screw too far in either direction, it may fall out. If this happens, turn it back one full turn and try again.
If you need to adjust the idle speed on your Toyota Tacoma, the first thing you need to do is find the idle speed screw. The idle speed screw is located on the side of the throttle body. Once you find the idle speed screw, you will need to turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed or counterclockwise to decrease the idle speed.
#1 ยท Aug 29, 2003. Hiya. I got the timing done on my car, but now once the engine is warmed up it idles so low (500rpm) that is shakes violently and sometimes stalls. I was just wondering what I need to do to adjust to idle so that it's back up to around 900rpm. I have a 5M-E enginebut tell me what you do on your 5M-GE's anywaywhere do I go?
Set idle speed adjusting screw, clockwise to increase rpm, counter-clockwise to decrease rpm. Idle rpm range should be 950 to 1050 rpms. Adjust idle mixture by turning idle mixture screw slowly clockwise until the engine runs poorly.
